About Wrek’d Tech

Wrek’d Tech, LLC is a North Charleston green-tech company focused on making electronic-waste systems easier to navigate today and exploring smarter ways to recover value from discarded electronics in the future.

Our work is centered on two initiatives: R2 Ready, an alpha-stage tool being developed to support more organized readiness work, and the Ex-Spec™ System, a conceptual recovery system exploring how sensing, automation, materials recovery, and traceability could work together more effectively.

Company Purpose

Why Wrek’d Tech Exists

Electronic waste sits at the intersection of technology, data, compliance, materials, and environmental responsibility. Yet the processes around readiness, disposition, and recovery are often fragmented.

Wrek’d Tech exists to bring a more connected systems perspective to those challenges. We are developing practical tools for the work organizations face now while exploring longer-term ideas for how electronic waste could be identified, handled, tracked, and recovered more intelligently.

Practical Structure

Make complex readiness and recovery work easier to understand, organize, and act on.

Systems Thinking

Look at electronics, information, processes, and materials as connected parts of the same lifecycle.

Responsible Innovation

Advance new ideas through research, evidence, and technical validation rather than assumptions.

What We’re Building

Two Initiatives, One Broader Goal

Readiness & Organization

R2 Ready

R2 Ready is being developed to help electronics recyclers and ITAD organizations bring requirements, evidence, gaps, corrective actions, and ongoing readiness work into a more organized process.

R2 Ready is currently in alpha development and is intended to support preparation—not provide or guarantee certification.

Future Materials Recovery

Ex-Spec™ System

The Ex-Spec™ System explores how identification, sensing, process intelligence, automation, materials recovery, traceability, and lifecycle thinking could be connected within a more integrated approach to electronic-waste recovery.

Ex-Spec is currently conceptual and is being advanced through research, feasibility review, and validation planning.

Our Story

From One Question to a Broader Mission

Wrek’d Tech grew from a question first raised during Shamoka Aiken’s U.S. Army service: why should sophisticated electronic systems become a disposal problem at the end of their useful life? That question developed over more than two decades into a broader interest in how electronics could be managed, recovered, and returned to productive use more intelligently.

  1. Origin of the Inquiry

During U.S. Army service, Shamoka Aiken begins questioning the gap between the sophistication of electronic systems and what happens to equipment when it leaves service.

  2. Early Concept Development

Core ideas that would later inform Wrek’d Tech and Ex-Spec begin taking shape around electronic-waste recovery and systems-level problem solving.

  3. A Systems Perspective Develops

The concept continues to evolve alongside Aiken’s work in IT systems, operations, security, process controls, and organizational technology.

  4. Structured E-Waste Investigation

Research into electronic waste, recovery technologies, and the technical questions required for further development becomes more structured.

  5. Wrek’d Tech, LLC Is Formed

Wrek’d Tech, LLC is formed in South Carolina, establishing a formal business structure for the company’s ongoing development work.

Shamoka Aiken

Founder & Owner

Shamoka Aiken founded Wrek’d Tech and is its sole owner. His background spans IT management, systems architecture, cybersecurity, technology operations, process improvement, research synthesis, and concept development.

His experience working across technology systems and organizational processes shaped the systems-thinking approach behind Wrek’d Tech: looking beyond individual devices or isolated tasks to understand how information, people, processes, and technology connect across the electronics lifecycle.

Today, Aiken leads Wrek’d Tech’s strategy and the development of R2 Ready and Ex-Spec while seeking the specialized technical and research expertise needed to move each initiative forward responsibly.

Looking Ahead

Building Toward the Next Stage

Wrek’d Tech is building from North Charleston, South Carolina, with a clear focus: develop R2 Ready into a useful readiness tool, advance Ex-Spec through disciplined technical research, and create stronger connections between responsible electronics management and circular materials recovery.
